Leon Alexandru BIJU (Bucharest, 1880 - Bucharest, 1970)
Artistic education: National School of Fine Arts Bucharest (1899-1906), with teachers: George DEMETRESCU MIREA, Ippolit STRÂMBU, Dimitrie SERAFIM.
Julien Academy, Paris, France (1907-1913), under the coordination of Professor Jean Paul LAURENS.
Travels to: Brittany, Germany, Algiers, Morocco, Italy, Egypt, Bulgaria (1911-1913).
He organized personal exhibitions in Bucharest (1926, 1927, 1934, 1936, 1937) and an exhibition in Constanța (1928). Thirty-nine collective exhibition participations are recorded, between 1910 and 1947. A combatant in the First World War, he was taken prisoner and imprisoned in the Turtucaia camp.
A long life and artistic activity, with a constant interest in still lifes, genre scenes, interiors, executed in oil, pencil or lithographs. He also made successful copies at the Louvre Museum and the Pinacoteca in Vienna.
