Pericle CAPIDAN (1869, Prilep, Pelagosnichi, Macedonia - 1966, Cluj-Napoca)
Artistic education: Munich Academy of Fine Arts, Bavaria, Germany (1897), where he studied with GYSIS Nikolaos and Karl von MAAR; Paris National School of Fine Arts (1898-1900), Professor Léon Joseph Florent BONNAT; Bucharest National School of Fine Arts (1887-1893), with teachers Theodor AMAN, Gheorghe TĂTTĂRESCU, and George DEMETRESCU MIREA.
He organized 2 personal exhibitions in Bucharest (1896, 1911) and Cluj-Napoca (1958) and participated in 20 group exhibitions and national salons, between 1894 and 1934. In 1901 he was awarded the prize of the Official Salon in Paris, and in 1906 in the Bucharest Jubilee Exhibition.
From a stylistic point of view, the artist quickly overcame the academic trends received in the Bavarian environment, becoming passionate about light, its dissemination in the daytime but especially at night, benefiting from a science of refined color arrangements and superior design.
