KARÁCSONY János (1899, Gheorgheni, Harghita – 1974, Gheorgheni, Harghita)
Artistic education: The artist's participation in the Baia Mare Creative Colony in 1931-1933 is documented. He studied with the Băi Mare masters ZIFFER Sándor, KRISZÁN János, and MIKOLA András. He also worked in the mining town of Maramureş in the period 1938, 1941-1943. He participated in numerous collective exhibitions of Băi Mare painters. Between 1935 and 1971 he held eleven personal exhibitions in: Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Târgu Mureș, Sfântu Gheorghe. He painted landscapes with a strong fidelity to the model. His works can be found in the patrimony of the national museums in Gheorgheni, Sfântu Gheorghe and Târgu Mureș and in private collections in Transylvania and Hungary.
